Your Character
FULL NAME: Adam Jacob Cohen
NICKNAME or PREFERS TO BE CALLED: Adam
BIRTH DATE: August 2, 1981
AGE: 26
HOMETOWN: Seattle, WA
JOB: Sous chef at The Hanalei Dolphin; musician with The Thirds
SEXUAL ORIENTATION and MARITAL STATUS: Straight/in a relationship

Personality

After spending the first eighteen years of his life in an urban setting, Adam was dying to get out and was thrilled to hear about his acceptance to The Culinary Institute of America's Greystone, California campus. He found that not living in a major city was more accustomed to his personality and lifestyle, though he does find himself missing city life every now and then. Laid back and easy going, Adam takes things as they come and doesn't stress out about too much, making it easy to handle anything that comes his way. His hobbies include sleep, playing the guitar, and singing bad karaoke.

Adam keeps the hours of anyone who has worked in the restaurant industry. His laid back personality almost makes it seem strange for him to work in an field that can be so hectic, but ultimately it's paid off. His ability to keep cool under pressure makes him an asset to the kitchen. As the sous chef at The Hanalei Dolphin, most of Adam's nights are spent at the restaurant, leaving the day free for him to play with his on-again/off-again band called The Thirds, wander around, or just catch up on his sleep. His strange schedule has been known to interfere with his love life in the past, leaving Adam discouraged and unattached for a while. He's looking forward to finding a girl who's willing to put up with his strange schedule.

History

Originally from Seattle, Adam is the oldest son of a psychologist and a biology professor. His parents were upset when he announced that he wanted to go to culinary school instead of something more "academic," but once they realized the talent and the passion that he had for what he did, they quickly relented. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, Adam eventually found himself in Hanalei where he steadily worked his way up the chef ranks at The Hanalei Dolphin. Despite the distance, Adam remains close with his family, especially his two younger brothers. His mother, whom he often finds to be somewhat overbearing, maintains close contact with him as well and jokes about her son spending the past eight years trying to get further and further away from home. He's only in Seattle once a year (Chanukah, though his mother would rather have him home for Passover, something that she constantly reminds him about as well), though over the past two summers he's been able to spend a few weeks touring with various friends' bands as a fill-in on the mainland.

Throughout his time at CIA and for a while after graduation, he ran the standard gamut of apprenticeships and externships, bringing him to San Francisco, New York, Chicago, a handful of European cities, and then back to Seattle. By some stroke of luck, he ended up with brief stints in various kitchens around the big island, eventually leading him to Hanalei. The decision to make his move to Hawaii more permanent seemed like a natural progression for Adam. While most of his peers ventured off to work at restaurants in major cities, Adam was intent on staying far, far away from those cutthroat arenas. Though he got a kick out of the stress and adrenaline that comes with working in a busy kitchen, he'd prefer to work in a busy kitchen located in a more relaxed environment, which is exactly what he found in Hanalei.

Adam still lives in the same house that he moved into when he first came to Hanalei. He's witnessed the revolving door of roommates, and only one of them has been in the house for as long as he has. Still, he appreciates the variety of people and characters that he's lived with, however crazy they may have been.

Facts
- Has "strength" tattooed in Hebrew on his lower leg
- Constantly gets grief from his mother about how he needs to marry a Jewish girl
- Is secretly addicted to MTV reality shows. Because he often works nights at the restaurant he records whatever he misses, but he won't admit to the roommates that he's the one filling TiVO memory with The Real World/Road Rules Challenge.
- Loves Arthur Nersesian novels
- Enjoys playing air guitar just as much as playing real guitar

OOC
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE US TO CALL YOU: Nina
CONTACT INFO: xninacolada
AGE: 23
PB CHOICE: Bryan Greenberg
